a Little of This and That...

Hi All,
I wanted to share with you my favorite lunch! Fresh spinach, cherry tomatoes, any cheese I have on hand, sugar snap peas, whatever nuts I have in the freezer, topped with light balsamic vinaigrette dressing. Vegetable chips on the side...
Today was a lovely "summer" day in Illinois. I decided to create an arrangement in my vintage planter. I went into the shed and found these lovelies...

I love my lantern, with the battery operated candle on a timer...
Cocoa making sure all is right with his yard...

Patio

Hi All,
I snapped this shot late this afternoon of our patio area. The day has been beautiful. More like a late May day.
I am standing on the new steps coming out from our new den. The rose climbers are going wild. Hope you all have a great week ahead!

Hi All,
Happy St. Patrick's Day!
Last night the tennis girls were at it again. We love our dinner parties and they are now in full swing.Of course, we had the wearin' of the green!
For some reason my pics posted in reverse, so I will be showing you the dessert first. Pistachio ice cream with hot fudge sauce...
Here is our hostess, Peggy with her table. She is a gracious hostess, for sure...
Shepard's pie, asparagus and salad...
Lovely appetizers and cocktails before dinner.
The weather is wonderful in Illinois, so lots of yard work to be done this weekend. Hope you all have a great one!

The Plaza

Hi All,
Thanks for all you good wishes for my Dad. He has his last therapy appointment next Wed, and then he should be released. 7 weeks of therapy for a double knee replacement. They projected 10-12 weeks, so he has done great!
I love NYC and my favorite place to visit while there is the historic Plaza Hotel. Here is a shot of Marlo Thomas on the famous steps. I love "That Girl" so thought I would share this pic with you!
This is a shot of the The Plaza I took last June when hubby and I were there for his business. The hotel was built in 1909 for a cost of 12Mil. ALOT of money back then and now!
Here is hubby and me at The Plaza for breakfast in Palm Court...

Me on those famous steps. Lots of movies shot here. Kings, Queens, movie stars and many others have climbed these steps...
Palm Court...
The Oak Bar. We took my parent's here in 2001, while we were there for the US Open tennis tournament. The tapestery on the back wall is wonderful. We sat in the booth right underneath it. Jackie Kennedy loved to lunch here.
The Lobby...
At Christmastime...
Located at 5th Ave and Central Park. What a beautiful shot of this historic hotel. Hope you all have a wonderful weekend ahead!

P.S. I am getting VERY close to 350 followers. I am going to have a little giveaway when I hit that number, so tell you friends!!!

Guest Cottage

Hi All,
Haven't posted for a while. Busy with Dad and therapy. I think they will be kicking him out next week. He has done fantastic! I am sharing the guest cottage with you, behind the garage. I have started decorating the walls in a vintage movie theme...
Some of my movie memorabilia on the walls. Darling daughter brought the olden china plate for me, back from Seattle. The pictures are of a young Gloria Swanson and Carole Lombard advertising silverware...

The little kitchenette...
A closer look at the handmade shelf above the cabinets. I had the sign made from and etsy seller...
Standing in the kitchen, looking toward the bath...
A corner in the bath. I used to correspond with Jimmy Stewart, so he is close to my heart...
The dining nook. The Rat Pack hangs over the dining table, which was my Granny's. I have more decorating to do, but this is where I am, for now...

Hope you are having a good week!
