We're Home!

Good Evening All,
I hope you are having a good weekend. We are so happy to be back in our little Cape house. Tonight will be our first night back home. Mr. Tennis, me, Cocoa and Theodore. I clicked my heels together three times and repeated, "there's no place like home, there's no place like home... (Well, it took alittle more work than that, but you know how I love the old movies :)
And here were are!

Happy Saturday to all...

Good Evening All,
It has been hot and humid here in the Midwest. The flowers seem to have stopped producing the big blooms and the weeds are fast growing! Hopefully, when the cooler weather sets in, things will reverse. The flowers just aren't at their best right now, but I wanted to join in with a couple of parties. Along the drive...
Just not much blooming right now underneath the flag...

The potatoe vine, however is going crazy!

Movie Star Monday

Hi All,
Hope you are all having a good Monday! When I started to collect on Carole Lombard in my early 20's( a LONG time ago) I saw a picture of the ranch that she and Clark Gable shared and fell inlove with it! I have been lucky enough to stand at the edge of the drive and peek through the gates, as the house still stands today, in Encino, CA. The Gables on the ranch...
Front view of the home. Carole bought the property in 1939 for $50,000. It had alot of acreage with the home. Now it has all been turned into a subdivision. When I saw this picket fence, it started my love for them.

The arbor and gate leading to the home...

A rare glimpse of the living rooom. All Early American furnishings. Carole had the matching sofas done in yellow and the drapes had a red and green hollyhock pattern.
I hope you enjoyed this little tour of the Gable's beloved ranch. Clark lived there until his death in the early 60's.

Hi All,
I couldn't pass up the chance to participate with Susan at Between Naps on the Porch and her 100th Tablescape Thursday! Congrats to Susan!!! This is the bistro set I brought over from The Daisy Inn. Mr. Tennis and I will most likely eat alot of our meals here. (If we are not eating out, hehe)
I am set it with my Debbie Mumm dishes...

All of you know how I love all the colors in these plates!

A closeup of the salad plate...

I wanted to show you some of the iron work at the bottom of this little table. I really do love this little bistro set! I am also linking up with Cindy over at My Romantic Home for Show and Tell Friday.

Aunt Gerry's 80th Birthday!

Hi All,
Last weekend I traveled to my cousin's home to attend her Mother's 80th birthday. We all had such a great time. Susan, my cousin, hosted a ladies luncheon in her beautiful home for around 37 ladies. She is a great hostess, to say the least :) Here we are, my cousin Susan and me.
The whole family of girls together getting ready to watch Aunt Gerry blow out the candles!

Aunt Gerry's other daughter, Sara is to my right. Her twin daughters have the blond hair and Susan's daughter has the aubrun hair. You have heard me talk often of my Granny. Well, Granny was Susan and Sara's Granny, too! We were very close growing up :) Of course, I am grateful to be able to go to the birthday party, so I am linking up over and Heidi's at Heart and Home and Gratitude Wednesday! Also, linking up with Jenny Matlock's Alphabet Soup using the letter "A" for Aunt Gerry.
More of this beautiful home in future posts!

Movie Star Monday

Hi All,
We all "Love Lucy." Before Lucille Ball was a big TV star, she was a movie star. In fact, my gal, Carole Lombard was one of her biggest promoters, getting her started in pictures. Lucy was born in 1911(same year as my Granny) and passed away in 1989. Movie star, Lucy...
With her beloved Desi and children, Lucie and Desi, Jr.

A particularly lovely picture of Lucy. Probably in the 60's

Lucy's home with Desi and then later with Gary Morton, her last husband. I have walked in front of this home several times on that very sidewalk. I love walking the old flatlands of Beverly Hills. To me the more traditional homes built in the 20's are much more beautiful than the monstrosities up in the hills. These are actually neighborhoods.
Happy Movie Star Monday! I am reposting and linking up with Suzanne over at Coloradolady and Vintage Thingie Thursday :)

Famous Couples Friday!

Hi Everyone,
I think I missed last week, but here we go this week. You all know how I LOVE The Mary Tyler Moore Show, so I thought I would post best friends, Mary and Rhoda. What a great duo. The characters were so different, but they fit together perfectly as best friends, on the show.
That great apartment. How I wanted one like that one! They were always doing fun things like hanging around the apartment, crocheting and watching that mini tv :)
Everyone have a great weekend!

The Kitchen is Ready!!!

Hi All,
The kitchen at the Cape house is all painted and cleaned and ready for our move. I moved my pine sofa table from the breakfast nook and made an island out of it...
The bistro set from the Inn is now in our breakfast nook...
I am linking up with Cindy and My Romantic Home and Show and Tell Friday.

A Cloche Party!

Hi All,
I am joining Marty at A Stroll Thru Life and her summer cloche party. Here is my "cloche in a cloche" I turned one of my Princess House ice tea glasses over a favorite plate and put one of my little brass bells in the center.

Z is for Zelda

Good Morning All,
I am linking up with Jenny and Alphabe-Thursday and the letter is "Z" The girl is Zelda Fitzgerald, wife of F. Scott Fitzgerald. I don't know alot about her, but her photos have always ingtrigued me. I love the clothes from the 20's, so maybe that is it. She was born in 1900 and died in 1948. Lovely photo...
Look at that hat and coat! A photo with her husband, Scott.

Another...

Vintage Hutch

Hi All,
Hope your week has been going well. Since I have all my china and glassware clean, I thought I would show you where I house some of it :) This Early American hutch came from on of my good friend's Grandma, after she passed, so it has special meaning to me. It matches perfectly with the Early American table and chairs.
A peek inside...

I love the detail on the glass...

The original hardware. The hutch is probably a piece from the 1940's.
I am linking up with Suzanne over at Vintage Thingie Thursday and Susan at Between Naps on the Porch for Tablescape Thursday.

Good Morning All,
Here are some pictures from tea at The Drake that my daughter and I attended on Saturday. The pretty china...
The beautiful centerpiece at Palm Court, where the tea is held...

Our wonderful scones, sweet bread, tea sandwiches, and petit fours.

YUM!

We love doing the tea. We have done this probably 5 times or more and we still look forward to it each time!
